UshuaIa Backcountry Invitational 2025

The End of the World, Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, Argentina

The Quest Goes Global

For five years, we had a home. Nendaz. The Swiss Alps. A group of friends who turned a pandemic powder day into the best backcountry freestyle event in skiing.

But a perfect day doesn't belong to one place. And in August 2025, for the first time ever, we packed up and left the Alps — chasing winter to the other side of the world.

Our destination: The End of the World.

Our first step abroad

Ushuaia, Argentina. The southernmost city on Earth, where the Andes finally run out of continent and drop into the Beagle Channel. Above it rises Cerro Martial — a glacier of open bowls, narrow chutes and raw Patagonian terrain that looks like nowhere we'd ever been.

This was a test event, the first of two we'd take to the southern hemisphere. The question was simple but enormous: does the magic travel? Could a format we built in the Alps, shaped by Swiss snow and our Nendaz crew, work 13,000 kilometres from home?

A crew of locals and internationals

The answer came fast. A mix of local Argentine riders and international athletes climbed the glacier with us, dropping into chutes and sending hand-built jumps with the same spirit that made Nendaz special — no pressure, no panels, just riders pushing each other and sharing the best day the mountain would give.

Pulling it off this far from home took local knowledge, and we couldn't have done it without Freeride Argentina. Gonzalo Lopatín and Tomás Castelli brought the terrain expertise, the community, and the calm confidence that made everything run smoothly at the bottom of the map.

Proof that it travels

Ushuaia wasn't just another event for us. It was the proof we needed — the moment we realised this wasn't just a Swiss event anymore. The terrain was different — maybe not the perfect conditions this time — the hemisphere was different, the faces in the crowd were different, but the feeling was exactly the same.

We'd found the perfect day at The End of the World. And we were only getting started.
