A Legendary Throwdown
Fourth edition. The one where the whole world got to watch for the first time — and the mountain nearly didn't cooperate.
Heavy rain hammered the face in the days before the event. Then the temperature dropped, and a foot and a half of fresh snow blanketed the mountain overnight. What looked like a disaster turned into some of the best conditions the event had ever seen. That's the 30-day window doing its job.

A stacked lineup
The Backcountry Invitational has a pull that few events can match. This year it brought four former Freeride World Tour champions to one face: Arianna Tricomi, Léo Slemett, Markus Eder and Maxime Chabloz — alongside two-time X Games medalist and creative force Alex Hackel. Fourteen riders, one perfect day.

Craig Murray took the men's
New Zealand's Craig Murray put down the run of the day to take the win — a double backflip, a cork 720, and a switch bio 900 among a stacked lineup of tricks. Committed, clean, and creative from top to bottom.
Behind him, Markus Eder locked down second, and 19-year-old Martin Bender rounded out the men's podium in third.

Tricomi and Barin went to the wire
The women's field came down to a battle between Arianna Tricomi and Lou Barin — and it went right to the last run.
Lou put down a clean opener with two 360s and a flatspin 360, then stepped it up with a stomped 720 that briefly knocked Ari off the top. But the three-time FWT champion answered on her final run: a clean cliff drop into an untracked zone for some soul turns, then a backflip and a 360 to the finish. The best run of the day, and the win.
Lou took second, with Sweden's Jennica Folkesson completing the women's podium in third.

The first livestream
For the first time ever, the whole day was broadcast live to the world. The stream ran into just about every technical problem a livestream can have — but it still gave the world its first real look at what this event is all about.
